Suitable for those interested in learning more about these amazing creatures that are vital to planetary health, this is a great way to spend a few hours here at Shaman's Retreat.  David is an experienced and knowledgable beekeeper and has been studying and keeping bees for over 12 years.  Their quiet hum is actually very meditative and their use of frequency is astonishingly accurate.  David's passion for his bees is very engaging and during this thorough introductory workshop,  you'll have the opportunity to:

• learn how a honey bee colony work, including naming and identifying the different castes of bees
• recognise the basic components and function of a traditional national beehive
• have the opportunity to construct some bee frames
• discover what a typical bee year might encompass and what to look out for
• gain knowledge of how to deal with a swarm
• receive hands-on experience of opening and examining a working hive
• sample some honey from David's bees

Administration

1. All attendees agree and accept that participating in this workshop is undertaken entirely at their own risk, and no liability can be accepted whatsoever for any bee sting or injury received.  Those with known bee allergies MUST bring their own medication. All attendees will be required to sign a disclaimer on arrival.
2. Protective clothing is provided (overalls or smock), but participants MUST wear trousers, sturdy boots and socks, and also bring a pair of rubber or leather gloves long enough to tuck into a sleeve.  
3. If for any reason the workshop needs to be cancelled due to adverse weather etc, you will be notified as soon as possible and given a refund.
4. The workshop includes a short break for lunch; refreshments and snacks provided.
